AFAM Sprockets

AFAM is a Belgian drive-line specialist that has been making sprockets and chain kits for road and off-road motorcycles since 1975. The range covers front and rear sprockets in 420, 428, 520, 525 and 530 pitch, plus matched chain and sprocket kits.

AFAM rear sprockets are cut from hard-anodised 7075 aluminium or hardened steel depending on the application, and front sprockets are case-hardened for wear life. Changing sprocket sizes is the cheapest gearing change you can make, drop a tooth at the front for quicker drive or add teeth at the rear for punch out of corners.

Which AFAM sprocket pitch do I need? Match the pitch stamped on your chain, usually 520 or 525 on street bikes and 520 on most dirt bike setups. If you change pitch, the chain and both sprockets have to change together.

Should I replace the chain at the same time as the sprockets? Yes. A worn chain will hook new sprocket teeth within a season, so a matched chain and sprocket kit works out cheaper over time.
