ATV & UTV Batteries

ATV and UTV batteries take a beating from cold starts, mud and constant vibration, so the right one keeps your quad or side-by-side firing up season after season. At DRIVEN, we stock ATV and UTV batteries from Yuasa, BS Battery and Motobatt to fit most makes and models, from work UTVs to trail quads.

AGM vs lithium vs conventional
AGM batteries are sealed, maintenance free, and handle the vibration of off-road riding well, which makes them the most popular choice. Lithium batteries shed weight and hold a charge longer when your machine sits between rides, ideal over a Canadian winter. Conventional acid-fill batteries remain the budget option for older units.

How to find the right fit
Use the ATV/UTV Battery Finder. Enter your make, model and year and it returns the exact battery your quad or side-by-side takes, no decoding part numbers or measuring the tray. It is worth getting right: cold cranking amps are what fire a cold engine, and a weak or slightly wrong battery shows itself on the first cold morning. Riding a bike too? ATV and UTV battery questions

How do I find the right battery for my ATV or UTV?

Pick your make, model and year in the finder at the top of this page, or on the full Battery Finder, and it sends you straight to the size your machine takes. Already have the old battery out? Match the code printed on it letter for letter. An L at the end flips the terminals, so a YTX14AH and a YTX14AHL won't swap.

AGM or lithium for an ATV or UTV?

AGM is the safe pick for most quads and side-by-sides: sealed, spill-proof and maintenance-free, and happy starting outside on a cold morning. Lithium sheds weight, but it needs a lithium-compatible charger and shouldn't be charged below freezing, which matters for a machine that lives in an unheated shed.

Can I use a Motobatt or BS Battery in place of my Yuasa?

Yes, as long as it's for the same size. Everything on a size page is matched to that code's case and terminal layout, so pick on price, type or warranty. Motobatt Quadflex batteries have four terminals and cover several sizes; use the pair that lines up with your cables.

Do I need to charge a new battery before I install it?

If it ships with an acid pack (a code ending in -BS), yes. Yuasa puts a freshly filled battery at only about 75 to 80% charged, so let it stand after filling, then give it a full charge before it goes in. Factory-activated batteries, like Motobatt and Yuasa's GYZ range, arrive filled and charged.

How do I keep my battery charged between rides?

A battery drains itself just sitting there, up to 0.5 to 1% a day by Yuasa's numbers, and accessories left wired in pull it down faster. If the machine is parked for more than a month, keep it on a smart maintainer. A charged battery won't freeze until well below -59°C, but a dead one can freeze at about -3°C.
