AGM vs lithium vs conventional
AGM batteries are sealed, maintenance free and the most common factory replacement. Lithium motorcycle batteries from Skyrich weigh a fraction of a lead acid unit and hold voltage longer between rides, ideal if your bike sits over a Canadian winter. Conventional acid-fill batteries remain the budget choice for older machines.

How do I find the right battery for my motorcycle?

Pick your make, model and year in the finder at the top of this page, or on the full Battery Finder, and it sends you straight to the size your bike takes. Already have the old battery out? Match the code printed on it letter for letter. An L at the end flips the terminals, so a YTX14AH and a YTX14AHL won't swap.

Should I run AGM, lithium or conventional in my bike?

AGM is the pick for most modern bikes: sealed, spill-proof and maintenance-free once it's set up. Lithium saves serious weight, but it needs a lithium-compatible charger and shouldn't be charged below freezing. Conventional batteries (6N, 12N and YB codes) are what a lot of vintage bikes were built around.

Do I need to charge a new battery before I install it?

If it ships with an acid pack (a code ending in -BS), yes. Yuasa puts a freshly filled battery at only about 75 to 80% charged, so let it stand after filling, then give it a full charge before it goes in. Factory-activated batteries, like Motobatt and Yuasa's GYZ range, arrive filled and charged.

How do I keep my battery alive over the winter?

Charge it fully before the bike goes away, then keep it on a smart maintainer, or pull it and store it somewhere cool and dry. A charged battery won't freeze until well below -59°C, but a dead one can freeze at about -3°C and crack the case.

How long does a motorcycle battery last?

Yuasa puts the average life of a sealed AGM battery at 3 to 5 years and a conventional battery at 2 to 3. Keeping it charged through the off-season is the biggest thing you control.
